RUMA

Mazumdar

Ruma and Goutham Majumdar had a home, which for us was a treasure trove of antiques collected from their many travels the world over.

The objective of the project was to be able to bring together these beautiful collectibles together and set a base to complement them.

Working with natural stones -Slate, Jaisalmer sandstone, Kota, and granites we set a backdrop to tie the different pieces of the puzzle together. Jaisalmer brought out the color of the wicker furniture beautifully, while the tumbled Kota tiles emphasized the wall and complimented the yellow stone, setting the backdrop for Ruma’s deep red flowers. The Kota stone served as a dark and stormy textured base for our client's handmade pots and ceramic pieces.

Understanding the minimal interventions was the crux of the design.

Sometimes the smallest things are all you need to set off the most beautiful elements.
